30/04/2006 RandomnessI downloaded the new Oblivion stuff tonight, and it was well worth it. The Wizards Tower download has more value to me because I'm a magic based character, yet they both have big advantages. I especially like the ring you find in the Tower and the great items I got from the bandits on the Orrery quest.
After I beat those quest-lines, I went back to my last thieves guild quest, The Great Heist. Somehow I competly botched this one with my horrible saving skills. If you read my last post you'll see that I recently deleted all but 2 of my saves to conserve room on my hard drive.
Well, I had a really good save just inside the Imperial Palace, and I got caught just inside. The Guard asks me if I'd like to resist arrest or whatever.... so I go to load my save and just try to be sneakier..... and I accidentally save over my ony other saved game. Now I just go nuts and try to steal the "Scroll" by force. And then I find out it is impossible to get it unless the "blind monks" don't recognize me as a threat. I got the Quest update that the monks are onto me and i need to escape. I escape, and clear my bounty and the Gray Fox won't talk to me until I get the scroll. Do I have to sneak all the way back into the castle? Have I just failed the quest? I feel really frustrated....
Maybe spending the rest of my M$ points will make me happy. I would like to hear some opinions on which arcade game I should get. I already have Geometery Wars, Gauntlet, Bankshot Billiards, and Wik.
Lastly, Major Nelson had a cool post on his blog about a website that writes a blog from your 360's activity. Sound wierd, and I can't get results for a few days. It sounds like fun even though mine will probably say OBLIVION OBLIVION OBLIVION OBLIVION OBLIVION. Here is a link so you can sign up.
Like everyone on here doesn't read Major Nelsons blog 10 times a day. Man, this info is for people who live in caves. And people who live in caves probably don't have Xbox 360's or the internet. Soooo, I guess I should write my blog about Hunting/Gathering and 21 ways to maximize the space in your cave.
Thank for stopping by,
JP 29/04/2006 In the morning.Technically it is morning right now(1:30 AM) but when I wake up I will drive down to my local Gamecrazy and purchase 1600 M$pts so I can download the Orrery and the Wizards Tower. Tonight I will work on finding 20 frickin dragons flowers or whatever they are so I can get back into the Mages guild. I should maybe wait till I have the Wizards Tower cause I heard it has a garden, maybe I can get these things there.
Anyways, Oblivion hasn't bored me yet, and I've put in 100 plus hours. I was having some problems with it freezing up during loading, and it was getting worse and worse, till I noticed I had 100 saved games. Once I erased all of those I have much shorter load times, faster frame rate and no freezing up! Just htough I would share that here, in case anyone else is having problems like this.
Thanks for noticing
JP 25/04/2006 FrostcragThe new phone book is here!
The new phone book is here!
This is how I feel. Because the new DLC for Oblivion is already out! Its called the wizards tower and I just found out on the forums that it is ready to download off XBL and I just wanted to post it here before I go download it and I just wrote the worst run on sentence ever because I am so excited.
http://theelderscrolls.com/home/home.htm Thanks for listening. (EDIT) I didn't have any m$ points!!! Forgot I bought the evil Picture Pack. Must now wait till saturday. But when I got on there was another DLC. The Orrery quests are availible also! They are both 150m$ in the marketplace. 23/04/2006 I'm backJust got back from my vacation on Friday. I had alot of fun, and spent alot of money. I took my girls to DisneyLand and it set me back about $400 after it was all said and done. Not that I'm complaining, it was a great experience.
I really enjoyed the "Star Tours" ride, which is about 15 years old, but still very immersive and lots of fun. I got this really neat picture of my Wife and I as Princess Leia and Han Solo. They did a great job on it, hopefully I will find time to get it scanned so I can share it with everyone.
Other than Disney the trip was pretty uneventful. My "grandparents- in-law" live in a really bad part of California and they are very old and don't really do much except watch Family Feud. So I got some sun and read a couple Star Wars novels I have been neglecting since I got Oblivion. They are the Dark Nest Trilogy and I am enjoying them quite a bit.
Other than that, things are getting back to normal, just looking for the energy to unpack and trying to not get sidetracked by Oblivion.
JP 14/04/2006 VacationI'll be on vacation thru the 20th so don't get all butt-hurt if I'm not updating my site. I am leaving my 360 at home, and I don't really know how I'm gonna handle it. Pray for me, not sure what kind of withdrawals I'm gonna have. 11/04/2006 Google Oblivionhttp://nirnroot.planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/
This is like google earth for Cyrodill. It can't zoom in on towns real well, but if you toggle everything on you will get a working map, listing every exporable area in Cyrodill. If you're one of the millions that like to unlock everything and go everywhere, you'll definitely use this later in the game, so remember to bookmark it. 06/04/2006 Oblivion news!Hot off the forums:Todd and I wanted to give everyone an update on a number of things we have in the works. Patch/Update We are working on a patch/update for both the PC and Xbox 360. It will address a number of issues that we have found and ones that have been reported to us and confirmed . It is our plan to first release it as a beta patch for the PC when it has cleared our initial testing cycles internally. Since it’s a beta patch you should be aware that issues may come up that we haven’t found yet and we strongly recommend you backup save games and understand it may be necessary to reinstall the game when the final patch comes out. We are also looking into the localization issues that have come up in Europe and are working to address some of those issues. A European Patch/Update will be available after the English versions. We’re doing both of these things as fast as we can and will let everyone know as soon as they are available. Downloadable Content We have been working on downloadable content since we finished the game in February, and we continue to feel this is a great avenue for us to continue to add to the Oblivion experience. We have already announced two of them: The Orrery The Orrery allows you to help the Mages Guild of Cyrodiil repair the Imperial Orrery, an ancient dwarven machine with mystical properties. Bandits have stolen a shipment of parts destined for the Arcane University; if you can return them, the Orrery will function once more. Features * A new, full-featured quest, including dialogue, journals, and rewards * Access to the Imperial Orrery in the Arcane University, an incredible mechanical marvel * New powers available for your character based on the phases of the moons The Wizards Tower Located high in the Jeral Mountains of Cyrodiil away from prying eyes, this Wizard's Tower, Frostcrag Spire, will become available. Packed with numerous useful enhancements, this structure will prove invaluable to magic-oriented characters. Features * A fully detailed tower for you to explore * A breathtaking view of Cyrodiil from the highest point in the land * Simple furnishings including a bed for leveling up * An indoor botanical garden with over 130 specimens... including Oblivion-native herbs! * Summon Atronach Familiars that obey your commands * Instant teleports to every Mages Guild in Cyrodiil * New Spell and Recharge vendor in the Imperial City * Fully upgrade the furnishings in your lair to suit your needs * Upgrade to a fully functional Enchanting and Spellmaking station with no need to join Mages Guild * Upgrade to a laboratory that buffs your Alchemy skill We hope to have The Orrery available for purchase next week. This plugin will cost 150pts on Xbox, and $1.89 on the PC. The Horse Armor Pack has been very popular, and exceeded what we thought it would sell. Despite that, we’re still trying to find the right spot, so we’re putting a much larger plugin out for less than the last one and we'll see what happens. Your feedback as we move forward in this is invaluable. Tell us what you want to see, how much of it, and what it might be worth to you. No, don’t say you want it free, because these plugins take a surprising amount of time to create, polish, and test (much more then Morrowind's). Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported not just Oblivion, but Bethesda Softworks over the years. Oblivion has been a tremendous success for us, and we thank you all for making that happen. We hope we continue to earn your gaming time. Pete (and Todd) 04/04/2006 I'm ThirstyI was playing through a Daedric quest on Saturday night where I had to kill off some vampires, and they were very tough. It took me three times to beat them, and I barely did it on the last try. The reward was cool, and I was leveled during the quest, so I went to town and slept without remembering I contracted some wierd disease from the vampires.
So upon waking the journal tells me about my bad dream, and that I have became a VAMPIRE! I was not about to cheat and load a earlier save (even though I would if it happened again). I got laughed at by my wife because here I am trying to play all noble and good, and I contract Vampirism! So I decide to get cured, and the vampire effects keep getting worse and worse. The light is very painful if you don't feed, and I was not about to feed on any innocents. Also as you don't feed the ability bonuses keep getting better and better. And you get cool skills like a vampire charm spell and a detect life/night eye spell. But your character is super deformed/old looking and noone will deal with you cause they are scared.
It took me six hours to complete the cure vampirism quest, and it was stressful. From finding a sleeping bandit in a cave to constantly watching the clock so you don't accidentally fast travel into sunlight or wait into sunlight (both result in death). It was alot of fun.
Anyways, if you contract Polyrific Hemowhatever make sure to use a cure disease immediatly, unless you want to get sidetracked for an extra quest, and enjoy some cool stat boosts for a while.
If I learned one thing from this experience, it is vampires really hate fire, and always carry a cure disease with you. Wait, that is two things!
Enjoy Life! 02/04/2006 Diamond Card!My Diamond Card arrived today! The website is now showing a ton of different vendors that I can choose from.
